We had to make a last-minute decision to move and only had two days to pack and find movers. Thankfully, we still had Andrew from NYC Brooklyn Movers in our contacts from our previous move. Andrew and his team of five were incredible—handling our three-bedroom duplex, including items from the rooftop, with care and efficiency.
They carried all of our belongings (and we had a lot!) down multiple flights of stairs and back up again without breaking a single thing. The team was professional, taking the time to disassemble, transport, and reassemble our furniture properly. They did such an outstanding job that I tipped them 100%—far beyond the usual 10–20%.
This was our second time using NYC Brooklyn Movers, and both experiences have been excellent. We’ve also relied on them to pick up furniture within the City, and they have always been reliable and careful. I highly recommend Andrew and his team for any move.

NYC Movers are spot on. The team of professionals showed up on time prepared to facilitate my mother’s move. I appreciated how my mother’s personal items were handled and packed with extreme care. Unfortunately, time was not on my side, as I am traveling back to Doha Qatar for work. The move was completed an hour ahead of time giving me an opportunity to prepare for the next donor’s pick up. Congratulations on a job well done ***** Mashallah!!!

Bedford-Stuyvesant is not a uniformly wealthy neighborhood because it combines above-citywide median household income with substantial poverty and housing-cost pressure. The Furman Center reports a 2024 median household income of $93,350, 11 percent above New York City’s $83,970 median, alongside a 25.8 percent poverty rate.
Bedford-Stuyvesant shows income inequality between homeowners and renters. Homeowner median household income reached $153,960, while renter median household income reached $81,230; median gross rent increased 96.5 percent from $1,130 in 2006 to $2,220 in 2024.
Bedford-Stuyvesant moves require seven preparations: confirm brownstone or building access, select a licensed mover, inventory belongings, declutter items, schedule utilities, coordinate the moving date and plan legal truck loading. NYC DOT prohibits unofficial street-parking reservations, requires commercial vehicles to follow posted parking signs, and restricts commercial-vehicle parking on residential streets from 9 pm to 5 am.
Bedford-Stuyvesant moving plans require movers to use legal truck routes because commercial vehicles cannot use New York City parkways.
Bedford-Stuyvesant moves follow seven practical steps: brownstone access, building policies, truck parking rules, utilities, scheduling, decluttering and local mover selection.
- Hire movers with direct experience navigating narrow, walk-up brownstone staircases in Bedford-Stuyvesant
- Confirm building move-in policies with management before move day, as many Bed-Stuy buildings require advance notice and a certificate of insurance from the moving company
- Reserve a temporary street parking permit through NYC DOT to give the moving truck legal access on move day
- Schedule the move between 10 am and 3 pm on a weekday to avoid Brooklyn rush-hour congestion between 7–10 am and 4–7 pm
- Schedule utility transfers for electricity, water, and Internet at least 3 days before the move-in date
- Sell or donate non-essential items before move day to reduce volume and lower moving costs in compact Bed-Stuy apartments
- Choose local movers with verified Bedford-Stuyvesant service records and confirmed knowledge of neighborhood street restrictions.
